Varthur is part of Whitefield township of Bengaluru. It lies adjacent to the second largest lake in the city, Varthur Lake, and is home to numerous IT companies including Cisco Systems, ARM Aricent, Wipro Technologies etc. Varthur is well-known for its events and celebrations that take place at Sri DharmarayaSwamy temple on the day of Ratha Saptami. Being situated away from the main parts of the city, the government had proposed development of the Peripheral Ring Road in 2013.
