“Cleaning and organizing is a practice, not a project.” -Meagan Francis
A wise home adage has once said that a clean home is a cardinal sign of a happy home. Through your perpetually busy schedule, it can be rather hard to maintain a neat home, and while there is no absolute need to make sure your homes are picture ready at all times, it would be better for your mental health and well-being to keep your homes neat. A home devoid of clutter makes it more livable and more enjoyable to be in, so whether you are living on your own in a flat, or with a roommate in a unit in Arbor lanes, here are a few nifty tricks to keep your homes neat.
1.) Make your bed every morning
It is an easy chore to neglect, but making your bed every morning can significantly make your rooms a lot cleaner. In fact, your room may look disorganized and cluttered, but since your bed usually takes up the most space, the simple state of it being made or unmade will make a drastic difference as to how your room will look.
2.) Clean as you go
After dinner, immediately do the dishes and make sure there would be no dishes or utensils left sitting on the sink. Leaving them for later will only add to the pile of clutter in your kitchen. The more you delay doing your dishes, the more washing duties you will accumulate. Not only will this pile become an eyesore, but it can potentially be unhygienic as well.
3.) Clean a little every day
Dedicating an entire day to do some spring cleaning in your homes can sound a bit overwhelming. So, instead of blocking out a day of the week to do some sprucing up, clean a little bit everyday instead. Make a timetable of little cleaning chores which you can spread out all week from Monday to Friday and use your weekends off. With this nifty trick, you would not have to spend your weekends cleaning.
4.) Get rid of clutter
Take a personal tour of your home and assess if you have things lying around which you no longer use. It does not matter whether these items have any sentimental value or none at all, or if you think you may need it soon, if it is occupying space and collecting dust, then it is best if you got rid of it.
5.) Go digital
One way to significantly decrease the potential clutter of your homes is to go digital. From the movies, music, books and magazines—it is best to have all of them stored in your computer. It saves you space, and it is a lot easier to organize minus the extra effort.
