2017 made us fall in love with millennial pink and rose gold hues, faux materials, Scandinavian style, marbles, subway tiles, and the list goes on. Trends come and go; and with 2017 coming to a close, more than a handful of new home decor and design trends are rolling out as a new year full of potential and time for experimentation emerges.
With 2018 just right around the corner, what could be the trends forecast for the coming year? To give you a rough list, here are a few of the latest home decor and design trends to expect:
There will be lots of geometric patterns
Geometric patterns are already introduced this year but its popularity is expected to grow more for the incoming year. Geometric tiles, wallpaper, or artworks are great accents in a room and it’s easy to incorporate as it blends well with any color scheme or theme. You can start small if you’re hesitant to jump in the trend but beware because you may fall in love.
Richer with wood
Natural wood has been on trend for quite a while and with Scandinavian design dominating 2017, the richness of wood isn’t going anywhere else anytime soon.
You don’t have to find a dining set that features natural wood design to showcase the trend. As simple as a well-crafted side table or the coffee table is enough to bring emphasis to its warmth while balancing it with the other neck-turning elements of the space.
Simplicity at its best
To be fair, simplicity doesn’t go out of style and so it has been technically in-trend for years. Simple and clean lines, shapes and curves bring subtle elegance to your interior. Scandinavian, minimalistic, and modern sleek home designs are now to be joined by retro-modern among others.
Metallics are still in
Metallics that aren’t too shiny, antiqued, or lacquered still have a place in 2018. They’re going to be big in the bathroom and remains to be in the kitchen. Come to think about it, it’s going to be great in any room so long as it blends well.
All-white kitchens are out
All-white kitchens sure make space look clean and airy; as if it makes the space where lots of cooking action and dirty dishes more pulled together than it actually is. White kitchens are almost always every home’s staple.
Give your white kitchen a makeover this 2018—let this be the year you unleash your creativity and get bold with your interior decisions.
Upcycling and frugal ideas are to be showcased
Recycling and upcycling brought by frugal ideas are expected to be big for the incoming year. It’s definitely going to be the year of showing off amazing skills and upcycling projects that goes within the budget. In addition, it’s also a great way to emboss your personality in your home—incorporating your personalized ideas in your own space.
Saturated colors will dominate 2018
Millennial pink and other neutral color schemes will all lay low for 2018. Taking their places are fresh and bold saturated colors such as navy blue, mustard yellow, red, teal, and the likes. We know many of you love neutrals but a pop of one of these amazing colors might be a good thing. A burnt yellow or seductive red statement chair would work fantastically in your neutral living room. This time, these colors will level-up from room accents to wall colors.
