With spring just around the corner. It might be time to think about the bugs and critters that come along with the beautiful weather. It won’t take up too much of your time, but it will be worth it. In almost every state there is going to be some serious situations that involve, well, those nasty creatures known as pests. We have prepared some spring pest control solutions that you can use to stay clear of those pesky bugs, keep in mind that the old adage: “If you find one bug there are more” is true so here is what you need to know and do to meet the Spring challenge of pests who are not your friend.
Tip #1 – There are things you can do without calling in the “pros” but sometimes a professional pest control company is the only solution you have. Finding a good company can be hard. That’s why asking your friends or relatives can help weed out the bad apples. Another technique is to look at company google reviews to see what other customers experience was like.
Tip #2 – Fleas hate mint and basil leaves. That said, simply soak some leaves in water in a spray bottle for about 3 to 4 days. You can also add lime, vanilla bean, and white vinegar and put it away for a week or so shaking it every few days. You can spay beds, clothing and pet beds.
Tip #3 – Flies will be out in force, soon. The big attraction for them is odor. Simply keeping doors and windows closed will keep them out. Be sure all the window and sliding door screens are in good shape. Once they are inside its too late. So use the old fly swatter or fly trap.
Tip #4 – Termites are smart and they can cause serious and expensive damage. What is even worse is they can be making a tasty meal out of your house and most people are completely unaware of it. Make sure you check for cracks in the foundation, siding, or anything made out of wood. They can enter in an opening as small as 1/34 inch wide.
Tip #5 – Cedar oil and water is a good tonic for your lawns and all your shrubs. It’s organic and safe for kids and pets in low concentration. It also repels insects that bite. Oh, one more thing the best time to apply this solution is at night and in the early morning.
Tip #6 – Finally, a special note about ants. If you spot just a few ants, guess what? The rest of the ant family is probably on the way. Don’t use that “over-the-counter” stuff. That will kill the workers but mom and dad but the rest of the family are alive in the nest and are probably sending reinforcements. In most situations, a professional solution is required. Contact a local pest control company and see what options they have for you. Typically a special solution is sprayed around the dwelling to create a circle of protection.
