It is no secret that home deco has changed massively over the years. However, some of the type of furniture seems to be making a return. I mean you look at the styles of decor say the 1960s it seems a little similar to what Ikea has in store at the moment. You have got the amazing fabric patterns that gave light to a room no matter how small or big it was. They were a little bit busier than what we have today but they just gave character to a room. Lava lamps were another defining look of the 1960s
This is actually something that even myself I own in my bedroom, doesn’t come cheap but it is definitely worth it. If you’re a bookworm like me and enjoy a nice read before bed a lava lamp is for you.
If you like Netflix you will definitely know about this, most shows on there are and have been inspired by the 80s and the 90s and we have been seeing a lot of vintage fashion including house decor. To my surprise, the prices of furniture that was once considered outdated seem to have gone up as people are going back to buy those things.
An owl lamp that would have cost you not more than £15 is now well above £30. I am however fascinated by these colorful rugs that I constantly see. It seems some contemporary colored carpets that our mothers once loved dearly are back and they are stunning. So are the pastel wallpapers plain and multicolored they are just soothing to oneself if I were to be honest.
Now you can find pastel colors in paint for your bathroom because we know that’s one of the room besides the bedroom where everyone spends most of the time. Well jumping the 90s and getting in straight to the actual early 2000s which by the way was not that long ago, how time flies. Here we’ve got one of my favorite living room items introduced, flat screen televisions on top of the fire place. This was an exceptional idea because then no one could put their hands on the television, everyone had to use the remote.
One thing that fought my eye for the early 2000s is the Oil rubbed bronze, it gives an elegant look or perhaps it’s just me. I have actually seen this on door knobs and quite frankly I just found the contrast that it was giving to the light colored walls beautiful. The best room in a house where the magic happens is the kitchen of-cause, I have actually seen the open plan emerge over the years.
In the today’s homes, the combination of the kitchen and the family room in a very open floor plan is actually very popular, as life and the entertaining get even more casual. Another thing that has definitely caught my eye whether be in a coffee shop in the streets of London or a nice cozy Italian restaurant is Edison bulbs. The idea that a bulb can just hang in its truest form from the ceiling and just brighten up the place is mesmerizing. This exposed look as they say was a creation from Thomas Edison. Some may say the lighting is a bit harsh but I on the other hand will pick Edison bulbs over chandeliers any day. These work better in the kitchen to give light to all the cooking that happens in there.
Now to the bedroom, bedroom decor should be in my opinion simple and just, no one like to sleep in a cluttered room. If you don’t have inbuilt bedroom furniture don’t put too much furniture in there because in my experience all the furniture sucks the air in the room. Which brings me to piece that is a center of attention in this room, the bed! We all want to be comfortable in all honesty. I thinks when a person hasn’t had a good sleep it shows through out the day.
This may be because of the bed, hence why it is crucial to get comfortable mattress that doesn’t contribute to back pain. I have found that a good mattress topper is quite helpful in this situation. A conventional foam and mattress topper is a well balanced blend of the good support and comfortable materials. It serves a great topper for the people suffering from the back pain because it is thick yet soft which provides quality sleep with no pain.
For people with back pain a medium firm mattress toper is ideal, for side sleepers a mattress toper with slight softness is best because it will cushion the shoulders and he hips. I sleep in my stomach and I’ve found that I need a firmer mattress toper to keep me afloat. One may ask what the best mattress for people with back pain is and in my research I found medium a memory foam mattress is actually one of the very best longterm solution for those experiencing back pain. Memory Foam shapes the entire body leaving no gaps unlike spring mattresses. Frequently, medium-firm mattresses allow you to sink into the bed in a natural position. So from vintage home decor to bed mattress, there’s always a room for development pun intended.
