Description
LOT ET GARONNE - IN PERIPHERY OF AGEN - Established on a line of defence linking the Garonne to the Pyrenees, castle to be restored belonging to the same family since the middle of the 17th century and finding its origins in the 16th and 19th centuries. The 2 round towers, partly destroyed during the French revolution, were renovated in the 19th century by the Bordeaux architect Gustave Alaux, a member of the Gironde Commission for Historic Monuments and Buildings in 1857, a disciple of EugA¨ne Violet le Duc.
The Castle:
Ground floor and first floor: a large 28 mA² (301 sq ft) vestibule leading to the 53 mA² (538 sq ft) dining room with coffered ceiling. The large lounge (54 mA² / 592 sq ft) with its fireplace, woodwork and large paintings on canvas depicting hunting scenes, a small lounge housed in a round tower with a charming painted stone fireplace, 2 large kitchens awaiting conversion, 6 bedrooms, 2 of which each communicate with a second small bedroom housed in the round towers. Possibility of 2 additional bedrooms. Wallpaper murals of Flanders representing country scenes in 2 bedrooms, study.
