Maraimalai Nagar is a suburb located in Chennai. Maraimalai Nagar and areas close to the city is all a part of new Chennai. The area, which was built as a satellite town in 1980, has witnessed development recently. There are many industries located in the Maraimalai Nagar. There are some of well-known SEZs including the software giant of Infosys. It is located at least eight kilometres from the Maraimalai Nagar. Then there is SRM University with a main campus located in Potheri in 2011. ConnectivityThe place is connected by Maraimalai Nagar Railway Station of Chennai suburban railway network. The city has a railway station, bus stand, primary health care, electricity office, telephone exchange, and higher secondary schools. All the schools and universities are located in Potheri that is just two kilometres away from Guduvancheri. Maraimalai Nagar also has a railway station. Real EstateThe town is divided into 21 wards. The extent of municipality is round about 58.08km/sq. Melmaruvathur Temple lies 20 kilometres to the south of Chennai. There are many new residential projects are being constructed in the area, along with physical and social infrastructure.Social infrastructure New social infrastructure worth Rs 1,000 crore has been put in place to build new housing and infrastructure. The special project will cover a total of 222 acre and self-sufficient habitation at Kadambur Nagar just near Maraimalai Nagar.
