Whitefield
Whitefield is a settlement area towards Bengaluru east. From being a quaint settlement of Anglo Indians, Whitefield grew in size since the IT boom of 1990s. The area is home to Brindavan, the Sathya Sai Baba Ashram and several major IT parks such as the Export Promotion Industrial Park and International Tech Park. The neighbourhood has been officially inducted into the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike. Connectivity Bengaluru city centre is around 20 kilometres towards the west from Whitefield. Areas such as Channasandra, Kadugodi and Immadihalli surround Whitefield. Two important four lane roads connect Bengaluru with Whitefield, the Whitefield Road through Mahadevapura and the Varthur Road or the HAL Old Airport Road through Marathahalli. Both these roads intersect the SH 35 which runs north-south through the city. The Whitefield Railway Station is around 3 kilometres towards the north of Whitefield Bus Stop. It is along the Chennai-Bangalore Route. The station is supposed to become a junction for the new Kolar Whitefield line being put down. The Namma Metro project is expected to touch Whitefield under its Phase-II. The Purple Line from Byappanahalli would be extended to Whitefield and would cover 13 stations in the middle. Whitefield enjoys smooth BMTC bus connectivity with the rest of the city. A traffic and transit management centre has been constructed at the EPIP with schedules that connect it to several areas of Bengaluru. Real estate Whitefield real estate is much sought-after among end users and investors both. The area mostly has gated communities with numerous configurations on offer. The areas well-developed social infrastructure has made it a popular spot for realty investments.Social infrastructure Whitefield is home to several multi-specialty hospitals. Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, Narayana Multispecialty Hospital and Columbia Asia Hospital are some of the renowned medical centres located here. Schools in the area include Vydehi School of Excellence, Whitefield Global School and the Foundation School. Whitefield has several shopping malls in the vicinity such as Inorbit Mall, Park Square Mall, Phoenix Market City and the Forum Value Mall.
